ABOUT THE ARTIST

MARIA EUGÊNIA LOPATA

Maria Lopata's oil paintings, predominately of Cape Cod landscapes, are the products of her connectedness to nature:

“The beauty of nature and it’s variation of colors in vegetation, in the waves of the ocean, in the reflection of calm waters, in moving clouds and skies and so many more other amazing things belonging to this wonderful world, makes me understand that the inspiration for my art is the beauty of Mother Nature in it's purest form, her soul exemplified through the colors of my paintings.”

Maria was born in Parana’, Brazil, in 1957, and started drawing at ten with her mother who is also an artist. With her inherent love for nature, Maria graduated with a degree in biology. She became an illustrator of the Scientific Journal for the Biology Museum, Parana’ and an illustrator for teachers’ dissertations at the University for 15 years. She was a University teacher, for 26 years, in Parana’, Brazil , and has more than 30 years of experience as an artist painting in oils.
